I’m a bit of a slipper snob. Living in Hawaii, slippers are a necessity and part of the everyday wardrobe. A spare pair of slippers is essential — in the gym bag, in the hiking backpack, in the car, because you just never know when you might want to spend a day at the beach. Better be prepared and ready! Since it is used daily as a means of transportation for our feet, it is essential to have comfortable and durable slippers.

We met recently Cocoa Casuals and had the opportunity to try out their new line of slippers,”LimulusBefore we get into the features of the new slippers, let’s talk about the company behind the footwear designed in Hawaii. they are native to Hawaii and carry footwear for the whole family.Such as slippers, reef walkers, t-shirts, towels and more!

KAKA’AKO KASUALS NEWEST DESIGN: LIMULUA
The newest addition to Kaka’ako Kasuals is theirs Limu Line — two years in the making! This is the Limulus in navy blue. The sole of the slipper is partially made of seaweed! Limu Line is the first of its kind in Hawaii. Kaka’ako Kasuals is the only company that uses seaweed in the base of their slipper. Features of Limu Line:
- Arch support
The outsole tool has built-in arch support that distributes pressure evenly across your feet providing much-needed body alignment. Stability is enhanced to reduce foot pain and problems associated with imbalance and lack of proper support. - Recycled nylon webbing, tabs and toe guard
To minimize our product’s impact on the planet, our sandal collection uses only recycled nylon. - Plasticized lycra
To reduce irritation on the top of the foot, the collection uses a seamless, laminated strap construction that eliminates the need for seams where the straps come into contact with your foot. The material also stretches in all the right places for ultimate foot comfort. - Dual density cushioning
The sandal’s midsole uses a harder density material, providing the support needed for all day adventure. The footbed uses softer density EVA to ensure a soft grip underfoot that lasts all day. - Recycled rubber outsole
Rubber soles are non-slip, offering superior traction on treacherous surfaces as you explore the great outdoors while reducing your carbon footprint.
It is so incredible to see how we humans are able to make wearable, durable clothing from plants – Algae!

We just slipped on the Limulus ($29.99) slippers, felt solid. Exploring the grassy shoreline, possibly some kind of seaweed, can be slippery, but the Limulua slippers made the slimy surface more approachable. The support and comfort is awesome! It’s great that Kaka’ako Kasuals is incorporating sustainability into their products and that the lower price makes it more affordable.
Wear the Kaka’ako Kasuals with confidence if you want to support a good quality, local company with a green initiative in mind with their footwear.
