In this week’s episode of Breathe Love & Magic podcast, I’m talking with Kelly Sullivan Walden, Dream Healer, Best Selling Author, Speaker, Reverend and workshop leader full of spirit, warmth and wisdom!
Hot air balloon crash
I started the interview by asking Kelly about her hot air balloon crash. She had taken a large group and her balloon went off course in a Mexican wildlife sanctuary!
From her balloon, one saw a zebra, then a giraffe, an elephant and the caribou. This should NOT have happened. They drifted away from the other balloons, eventually crashing and being thrown from the basket. Fortunately no one was injured.
When Kelly looked up, she was next to a giraffe. She stood up, hoping that she would like the giraffe and she knew that this animal has the biggest heart of all land animals. First he smelled her, then he licked her head! She said she felt loved.
In the jeep driving back to the group, they saw lions just 25 meters ahead. What an unexpected adventure!
Kelly Sullivan’s new book Walden
In her new book, A crisis is a terrible thing to waste, Kelly talks about OGLE’s method of turning tragedy into magic. An amazing technique, he explains how the process is truly transformative.
As a dream healer, people come to her when they are in emotional pain. Her mission was to find a way to help customers resolve these situations quickly. He wanted something thorough, deep and fast and he got it!
In her own NDE, she saw that the magic of the spirit never stops. It’s always there. Kelly knew there had to be a simple way to call upon the magic to turn things around when you’re faced with a fear or problem and all seems hopeless.
She combined a bunch of things from her toolbox and with the help of her guides she created the OGLE method. This works to repair your heart and quickly get you back into the flow of magic.
The OGLE method
Here’s how the method works:
O stands for offensive about what happened. This gives you permission to admit what was scary, bad or hurtful and express it. Just like the balloon crash, which was scary.
G is for good. What good can you find about the situation? Her freaky hot air balloon ride turned out to be a bucket list experience that wasn’t on her list. Seeing these animals up close was very magical coming from that trauma of landing.
L is for Looking Glass where the transformation magic really begins to happen. Look at yourself and ask how am I like the person who offended me?
At first he blamed the balloonist for losing control of the drift. But Kelly realized that she made a lot of mistakes herself over the years, so she needs to have compassion for others.
E is for Elevate to change the energy. You have to learn something, create the magic. In this example, Kelly decided not to fall victim to this balloon crash, since luckily everything went well.
He also decided to take a break the next time he made a mistake. Shifting in this way and taking positive action raises your thoughts and vibration, which is surely where the magic lies!
What Kelly loves about the OGLE method is that it can change you and transform the situation quickly, rather than dragging you down for a long time. Use it when you start to feel the downward spiral of emotions.
If magic is your birthright, recognize the tragic and heal so that you can advance into magic more quickly.

The Dream Therapist – Kelly Sullivan Walden
Then we talked about dreams. Known as Doctor Dream, Kelly knows the ins and outs of dream symbology. I asked if we could see one of my old dreams that is still vivid in my memory.
In the dream, I was looking in my closet for something to wear to a party, but I couldn’t find anything I liked. Suddenly, an old woman appeared and asked me what the problem was.
I told her there was nothing good for her to wear and she responded by asking “What do you say? Look what’s in here.” She waved her hand and magically changed everything in the closet into gorgeous favorites! Beautiful colors and bright options.
In the dream, I couldn’t choose anything and I never went to the party, although I was completely amazed by the choices. At the time I dreamed it, I wasn’t happy with my corporate job.
Dream interpretation
Kelly likened my corporate job to the boring clothes in my closet. Clothes represent an identity that you wear. My clothes were conservative and boring as I felt about the company. Also, a closet can represent something closed and unavailable for all to see.
Then, when there were so many colorful, fun clothes, it represented a vibrant side of my soul that I hadn’t connected with. He might have been showing me all the amazing opportunities in store for me as well. Richer, full of soul and alive.
Kelly pointed out that the dream is still alive today, so I can go back and change the ending. Give him the ending I want now. He also pointed out that he might be showing me the colorful life that became my future.
There has been a lot of research done on making a dream come true this way, or as he calls it “Dreamafesting” (like manifesting, but with dreams). Harvard Medical School and the Medical Institute of Chicago have done extensive studies.
When they scan the brain, there is a specific synapse that is activated when you think about a bad dream. However, when you change your thoughts and rethink it, your brain literally rewires itself!
The Golden Buddha
Kelly tells a wonderful story about a solid gold Buddha in Thailand that was hidden by covering it with cement to protect it from intruders. Eventually people forgot what was hidden beneath the facade and Buddha sat in a crumbling temple. until 1954 when it was transferred and its true value revealed.
A golden glow showed through cracks and was restored to its original beauty near the 2500th anniversary of the death of Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha). The Thai people considered it a miracle.
We are all the Golden Buddha because we are naturally radiant and golden. But in this world of suffering (as Buddhists think of it), people cover themselves for protection and forget the gold underneath.
When something difficult happens, a breakdown can become a breakthrough to break that cement. This is how gold begins to peak! Trauma and hardship can help us unearth the gold beneath and the true self.
At the end, Kelly talked about her upcoming luxury retreat called “The Crisis Is a Terrible Thing to Waste Retreat” in Costa Rica. The 5 day trip is in June 2023 and you can find details here here.
