It’s the scariest time of the year! But who says Halloween can’t offer some romance for couples, too? With these 17 clever, creative Halloween date ideas, you and your loved one can celebrate the season in a special way.
Make your own creepy cocktails

Grab some of your favorite drinks and try your cocktails. You could make delicious, classic cocktails if you chose, but why not try some with a twist? There are so many ways to turn a standard drink into an All Hallows Eve drink! Think of some fun ones recipes like these, or use them to inspire your own drinks. Cheers!
Solve a mystery together
Are you a true crime fanatic? Join the club! Well, the perfect Halloween date night can involve true crime… or fictional. You’ve heard of the game Hunt for a killer? This subscription box is great for couples who get excited about solving a crime. You will receive several clues in your box each month and sort them as you get closer to solving the mystery. In fact, each mystery unfolds over 6 episodes or months, so this is a date the two of you can plan every month!
Choose/make your own Halloween costumes
What part of Halloween is better than costumes? In early October, the two of you can plan a special date where you pick out and buy your costumes or make them together. We have tons of ideas for couples costumes, whether you want to go as a couple or a set!
Have a scary movie marathon
This is one of my favorite fall date ideas in general, but it’s especially great on or around Halloween night.
My favorites are the classics like THE SHINING: movies that are scary but not overly bleak. But maybe it Saw franchise more your speed? You do it, boo. Whichever you choose, pick a few and cozy up together under a warm blanket.
Enjoy Halloween treats while you watch. Who said Halloween candy is just for kids? If you’re not a fan of caramel, consider baking (and decorating) some seasonal cookies together.

Visit a haunted spot
If you want to get into the spooky spirit, go straight to the source: a haunted spot in your town. It’s not hard to find them with a simple Google search! Old asylums, creepy cemeteries, abandoned houses, scary ruins in the forest. Go and have a peak! Maybe you’ll have a haunting experience to share together. Remember to be an adult and respect private property etc.
Tell scary stories by the fire
Don’t want to visit actual haunted places, but would rather just talk about these things? Yeah me too. For you and your sweetheart, I suggest a story-centered date. Prepare yourself with the best ghost stories and legends (whether real or imagined) and tell them to each other by the light of the fire.
If you don’t have any stories of your own, consider reading aloud some creepy stories from the Internet. A good place to go is the Reddit subreddit r/sleep. Or get lost in it this thread about disappearances and strange encounters in the woods. You are welcome.

Engrave lanterns
Finally, the most classic Trick-or-Treat date there is: pumpkin carving! Grab your pumpkins, your sharp objects and your inspiration and get to work creating some masterpieces. Personally, I like to combine pumpkin carving with listening to a playlist of classic Halloween tunes. Monster Mash, anyone?
You have a Halloween Baking challenge
Host a Halloween-themed baking contest in your kitchen. You and your partner can each create your own spooky treats and then taste them. Consider making things like ghost cookies, mummy cupcakes, or monster brownies.
Go on a ghost tour
Many cities offer ghost tours, especially during Halloween. Chances are, your city does too! Join one of these spooky tours to explore local legends, haunted houses and spine-chilling stories. It’s a great opportunity for some thrills with the one you love.

Visit a pumpkin patch
Take a trip to a local pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkins for carving. It’s a fun, outdoor date where you can enjoy the fresh air, pick pumpkins, and take cute photos together.
Experience an escape room adventure
As escape rooms have grown in popularity in recent years, almost every city now has one! These rooms often have scary themes and puzzles to solve, making for an exciting and challenging date night. If possible, find a Halloween themed escape room.
Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Goleat
Look for a local miniature golf course that offers glow-in-the-dark miniature golf during the Halloween season. Playing under black lights with spooky decorations and glowing obstacles can make for a unique and fun date night.
Outdoor movie night
Host an outdoor movie screening in your backyard or at a local park. Pick a classic horror movie or a Halloween favorite, bring blankets and snacks and enjoy a night under the stars.
Costume Swap Party
Instead of a traditional Halloween date night, with this activity the more the merrier! Just before Halloween, organize a costume swap party with friends. It’s a great way to recycle costumes and have fun trying on different outfits, and it’s great when you’re on a budget!

Halloween themed dinner at home
Cook a special Halloween themed dinner together. Consider making dishes with “creepy” names or try your hand at making a scary charcuterie board. Or is it CharBOOterie?
Pumpkin painting
If pumpkin carving seems too messy or complicated, opt for pumpkin painting instead. You can get creative with patterns and colors without the mess. Plus, your luscious pumpkins will last a lot longer. Maybe until Halloween!
Haunted Corn Maze or hay ride
Many farms set up haunted corn mazes during the Halloween season. It’s a fun and scary adventure for couples who enjoy a little scare.
