In the mornings at Golden Coast it’s a magical time. Everyone wakes up early enjoying the sunrise on the beach whether it’s walking the dog, catching the surf or enjoying a workout. There’s also an epic breakfast scene that perfectly complements all that gorgeous scenery and morning activity! While there is no shortage of great places to eat on the coast, I wanted to share some of my favorites with you. So skip the boring bed and breakfast bite and treat yourself! Here are 13 of the BEST breakfast spots on the Gold Coast.

1. Paddock Bakery
One of my favorite places for breakfast or brunch on the coast, Paddock Bakery in Burleigh Heads is a must try spot! The clever folk at Paddock have set up shop in an old Queenslander house, turning it and the surrounding garden into a relaxing destination for fantastic food. There are no reservations, so either schedule your visit for a weekday or be prepared to wait if you visit on a weekend (trust me, it’s worth it). The menu is full of delectable options like their famous eggs, french toast with donuts, pea and halloumi pancakes, or their signature rustic avo. The food here is fresh, flavorful and upgraded from freshly baked bread, rolls and goodies. Not to mention, the coffee is fantastic too!

2. Pasture & Co
It is located in the green Currumbin Valley, it’s hard to believe that this gorgeous spot is only a 15-minute drive from the coast! Byron Bay flows inland goodness, Pasture & Co it is hidden in a Village. Here, you can enjoy fresh, local, organic and sustainable produce with a delectable menu that caters for all dietary requirements. Tuck into fluffy ricotta pancakes, organic sourdough waffles, spicy chili omelets, breakfast burgers, or delicious zucchini and potato roasts. A lush, forested location and fantastic food… what more could you ask for?!

3. The Milkman’s Daughter
Food doesn’t get much prettier than the amazing dishes served at the Mermaid Beach spot, The Milkman’s Daughter. This wonderful venue focuses on healthy and honest food, serving up vegetarian and vegan meals that are almost too perfect to eat. Almost. Enjoy their delectable lemon ricotta pancakes, red velvet waffles, pesto scramble and stack of fritters, or get stuck into their signature farmer’s breakfast or epic breakfast tacos. The all-white surroundings create a tranquil space, decorated with rattan accents and lush vegetation. If all that wasn’t enough, the coffee and service are both top notch!

4. Bumbles Cafe
You will find Bumbles Cafe located along the beautiful Gold Coast waterways in Surfers Paradise, a favorite spot buzzing with locals. That’s a big call, but bogeymen serve my favorite cup of coffee on the Gold Coast! Honestly, I can’t stop thinking about it and I keep comparing other coffees to it. They offer a lunch and breakfast menu stacked with delicious panya sourdough bread, Australian butter, honey and jams. I am obsessed with crusts and love their yeasts! Their menu changes, but rest assured it’s full of fan favorites and one-of-a-kind creations, and the interior is reminiscent of a magical bookstore meets eclectic antiques pocket.

5. No Name Lane
You know a place serves good coffee when there’s a line at the takeout window early in the morning! Tucked away beneath the Oracle Buildings in Broadbeach, No Name Lane really serves fantastic coffee. A real crowd pleaser, you’re sure to find something you love on the breakfast menu here. Enjoy fan favorites from their main menu such as avo on toast, your eggs or their delicious breakfast burger. Discover their signature menu stacked with goodies like lemon meringue pancakes, chili scrambled eggs, smoked salmon tartine, caponata on toast and coconut infused chia.

6. Social Brew
Located along James Street in Burleigh, Social Brew it is quite the oasis. With tables and plenty of booths spread out under a canopy of plants and twinkling lights, it’s a comfortable and welcoming place to start your day. Search their iconic Social Stack with all the trimmings, Harissa Haloumi Burger, Breaky Burrito or tuck into one of their delicious acai bowls. I’m a huge acai bowl fanatic and loved their fresh, delicious bowl with lots of fruit. The coffee here is also great, making it the perfect place to start your day!

7. Dune Cafe
You will find Dune Cafe overlooking the peaceful Currumbin Lagoon offering great water views, fantastic food and coffee and a peaceful place to relax. Open daily from 6:30am. to 3 p.m., Dune has a range of bites for breakfast through lunch with options for kids, vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free. Their organic pancakes, golden potato and quinoa hash, and delicious granola bowl are perfect for morning, while their burgers, pork tacos, and lemon pepper calamari hit the spot for lunch.

8. Cream canteen
Nestled under a canopy of trees, this cool spot near Talle Creek exudes relaxation with a wide range of seating options. From the same team that brought us Bam Bam Bakehouse, Cream canteen is a dream come true for pastry and pastry lovers. The Portuguese custard tarts are a must try, as is everything else freshly baked and on offer at the counter! The coffee here is fantastic and the menu boasts plenty of goodies like the Butter Boy Benny, served on a fresh croissant if you like, Crispy Shroom Burger, Karaage Chicken Slammer and Prawn Po Boy.

9. Commune Cafe
Start your morning with a visit to a nearby location Commune Cafe, a fantastic local spot with great outdoor seating and a relaxed atmosphere. The coffee here is fantastic, so start with a few of these and then stick to their breakfast menu. From classics like eggs bene and free range eggs on toast to coriander corn pancakes, cocoa pancakes and shakshuka to a range of really tasty superpower bowls (the Acai ‘We’ve gone nuts’ is amazing!) you’ll be spoiled for choice. There’s plenty to choose from for vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free folks.
10. Little Mali
A very cool, local cafe, Little Mali Espresso and Deli it’s the ultimate spot to start your day. With a welcoming, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, you will feel right at home. Open daily from 5 or 5:30am. to 3:30 p.m. For something light and refreshing, their smoothie bowls are not to be missed. For something more filling, check out the deli cabinet or try something from their delicious breakfast and lunch menu. We like to take our food and drinks and enjoy them at nearby Rainbow Bay.

11. Cafe DBar
Modernize: Cafe DBar is currently closed for renovation and will reopen in 2023.
Great views and spectacular views combine to make Cafe Dbar a must visit spot for breakfast or lunch. Open from 7am to 2pm. daily, you’ll find this beautiful spot perched atop Point Danger with panoramic views of a world-famous surf break. The menu offers a range of delicious options suitable for vegans, gluten dodgers, vegetarians and little ones. Try the plant-based BLT, healthy Brekky Bowl or Big Brekky to start your day, or try a tasty burger, fresh salad and delicious smoothie for lunch.

12. The Henchman
Don’t let the awful name put you off, Bravo named only for the avenue located in Miami. An open, airy space with plenty of seating and fresh air, this laid-back spot is beautifully decorated with a white picket fence, festival lights, umbrellas and street art. Stop by for breakfast or lunch daily from 7am. until 2 p.m. or visit the bar for cocktails and live music on weekends. For breakfast, tuck into their puff pastry, chili slaw, or Kransky hash stack. For lunch and late night, the bar menu includes some really tasty burgers, sandwiches and hot dogs that are sure to please! Of course, vegan, veggie and GF options are available.
13. Raijin Palm Beach
If you’ve ever dreamed of trying Japanese souffle pancakes, I know just the place! You will find Raijin located in laid-back Palm Beach on the Gold Coast. This unsuspecting spot combines fantastic coffee and unique bites to create the perfect dining destination. Crystalline, wobbly soufflé pancakes are the star of the show, available with a few different toppings, including matcha cream and yuzu chocolate verma, originals served with cream and fresh fruit and, for the adventurous, carbonara! The menu also includes traditional specialties and delicious fresh juice if you prefer.
